The Development of the Grip Enhancement Solution
I have had the idea for a grip spray since the company was first started. I always thought it was absurd that people would change their grips multiple times a season, given how expensive they are. I thought, why isn't there a product out there that makes your grip feel brand new every time you swing. Once I had the iron polish and club cleaning spray developed and released, I knew the next product would be the grip spray. It just made too much sense to follow up with the grip spray so that Club Doctor could truly provide a complete club care solution.
Many people today claim that they have great ideas for products or services, but 99% of them never execute. I strongly believe that this is the single factor that separates a true entrepreneur from everyone else. Once I had my grip spray idea and was financially ready to commit to the development, I got to work. Just like the other products , the first step in my process is buying competitor products and testing them. After purchasing every grip product I could find on Amazon, it was off to the simulator. The next several hours were spent testing each product on different clubs and grip types. Once I found my 2 to 3 favorite products, I sent them off to my supplier for testing. The products arrive at the supplier along with my thoughts and concerns. At that point, they do their testing and start the development of my product. When they feel confident they have come up with a few products that outperform all the competitor products, samples are sent to me for testing. A few weeks later, the samples arrived at my house and I began testing. I spent the next couple of weeks at the range or on the course trying the samples. I brought friends with me to have them test the product and get additional opinions.
Once I felt that I had made a final decision, I communicated with my supplier and we moved on to the next steps. From that point forward, the remaining steps of the process are sourcing packaging, creating label artwork, and other odds and ends tasks. My favorite moment of the entire process is when I finally get the finished product in hand. Being able to see a project come to life is the coolest feeling in the world.
